Can a department chair raise the salaries of ‘all’ (lecturers, assistant professors, etc.) faculty members?
For an increase to base salary, there might be justification in a market analysis, particularly when new hires may make more than existing faculty. Contact OEO for an analysis that compares any new faculty hire's salary to the salaries of existing faculty.
Other than a market or equity analysis, there is no mechanism for providing rasies to all faculty on a group basis, because the primary determinants of annual raises is individual merit, on the one hand, and responsibility-center financial capacity.
