As IUPUI strives to become a more welcoming campus, honoring its strategic commitment to the values of diversity and practices of inclusion, it is important to examine faculty demographics to identify areas for improvement. As a campus dedicated to student success, faculty representation matters. It is vitally important that our classrooms reflect the diversity of human experiences that students will encounter in their surrounding communities and the world upon graduation. This preparation begins through student and faculty interactions.
The following dashboards, powered by Tableau and comprised of institutional data compiled by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (formerly IRDS), are provided for interactive use, as a means of providing a more transparent accounting of the scope of underrepresentation and the intersectional nature of faculty diversity.
Faculty demographic data can be disaggregated by school, department, and employee type to gain insights on trends over time. The data is updated in real time and are effective for appointments as of October 1st of each year.
Having access to this data helps various constituents of our campus community to plan and develop strategic initiatives and make informed decisions, aligned with academic unit diversity plans as well as the overall campus strategic plan.
