For IUPUI schools: Eligibility for long-term medical leave (six weeks full + up to nine weeks half pay, depending on medical need), re-sets on a calendar year basis. However, there needs to be a return to work between any two medical leaves.
Example one: Faculty member becomes ill August 15th, and is ill for 5 weeks, and returns to work for 10 weeks. On January 1st, they are eligible for six weeks fully paid, and nine weeks during that calendar year.
Example two: 10-month faculty member becomes ill in May; receives 4 weeks full pay. In August, is still unable to work, and is eligible for two weeks at full pay and nine weeks at half pay. If this person does NOT return to work, they are NOT eligible for further leave in January.
Family formation and family support leaves are limited to two per five years, with at least one semester or five months of work in-between.
