Creating a Balanced–Integrative eDossier
The eDossier system is used across the IU system. It has a series of defaults and options that candidates and reviewers have to work within. The IUPUI P&T Guidelines document includes screenshots and descriptions of all folders.
Candidates will choose an area for excellence. For all integrative cases, the 'area of excellence' is 'balanced'.
For all cases, candidates have these four main components of the eDossier: CV, candidate statement, main dossier, and appendices.
- A CV in the appropriate style: either a "binned" CV (Vita-IUPUI P&T in DMAI) or an integrative CV.
- A candidate statement (5-7 pages).
- Some schools have asked for a separate or additional diversity statement. This may be uploaded within the "Candidate Statement" folder as a separate, labelled, document, or, placed in the candidate statement PDF at the end. It does not count as part of the 5-7 page limit. Campus does not require this, but, if you do it, it goes here.
- Main dossier.
- For
binned cases, this consists of 2 or 3 main areas (research/creative activity, teaching, service), each of which has separate subfolders. "Binned" cases include: research-area-of-excellence, teaching-area-of-excellence, service-area-of-excellence, and the balanced-binned case.
- Candidates may place materials for each area into the separate/individual folders or may consolidate all main-dossier documentation into one PDF for each area (that is, one research PDF, one teaching PDF, one service PDF.)
- For
balanced-integrative cases, place
all materials into
one PDF, uploaded into the
first main folder. "Balanced-integrative" cases include DEI and Thematic.
- Leave all other folders empty, with zero documents. It is essential that you provide a clickable table of contents for this single PDF.
- Between the candidate statement, any diversity statement, and all 'main folder' material, there is a limit of 50 pages maximum. (The CV is not included.)
- For
binned cases, this consists of 2 or 3 main areas (research/creative activity, teaching, service), each of which has separate subfolders. "Binned" cases include: research-area-of-excellence, teaching-area-of-excellence, service-area-of-excellence, and the balanced-binned case.
- Appendices.
- For binned cases, candidates put materials into each of the folders or may consolidate all research appendix materials into one PDF in the first folder, and the same for teaching.
- For balanced-integrative cases, place all appendix materials into one PDF, uploaded into the first appendix folder (in the first section, research).
- Campus does not use appendices. Be sure to include whatever your department or school requests. See the main Guidelines for other information.
- Librarians may upload materials separately into individual folders or as a single consolidated PDF in each of the three areas.
