Faculty Diversity and Inclusion
The Office of Academic Affairs’ Faculty Diversity & Inclusion team provides guidance and educational opportunities for academic units in support of the campus strategic priorities related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We serve as a resource to administrators, faculty, and staff for information on faculty demographic data, inclusive hiring practices, and equity-minded faculty and leader development.
Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion
The associate vice chancellor for faculty diversity and inclusion (AVCFDI) is responsible for leading strategic efforts with academic units to promote inclusive excellence and to attract, hire, retain, and advance a more diverse faculty. The AVCFDI works collaboratively with the Graduate School to enhance pathways to the professoriate for underrepresented graduate and professional students. The AVCFDI supports programming related to leadership development and equity education.
Inclusive Hiring
Academic Affairs provides resources that assist academic units in the recruitment, hiring, retention, and advancement of a diverse workforce. These resources provide guidance to search and screen committees as they endeavor to cultivate a diverse hiring pool of faculty talent from which to increment our innovative and vibrant campus community.
Equity Education
Academic Affairs provides strategic development, administration, and evaluation of comprehensive equity education opportunities among all ranks of faculty. Academic Affairs also provides campus-level training to faculty in academic units engaged in processes related to faculty hiring, promotion and tenure decision making, teaching, and mentorship.

IUPUI provides support for faculty success through opportunities that provide mentorship, research support, professional development, and recognition of scholarly excellence.
Leadership Development
The IUPUI Next Generation 2.0 program is an initiative that brings together historically underrepresented faculty and staff to engage in leadership and professional development, with the goal of addressing current disparities in leadership positions and succession planning for the institution.
Grants
IUPUI has been involved in multi-year initiatives to affect change in the culture and climate of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) disciplines, to ensure a more diverse and equitable environment for faculty, staff, and students traditionally underrepresented in these fields.
Academic Pipeline Programs
Faculty diversity begins with a diverse community of graduate, professional, and postdoctoral students. IUPUI provides resources, guidance, and support to prepare those interested in pursuing academic careers. More resources can be found at the IUPUI Graduate Office.
