Biography
Rachel Applegate was a reference librarian, library director, director of institutional research, and graduate program director (not all at once) at the College of St. Scholastica in Minnesota, then a professor in the (School, Department) of Library and Information Science at IUPUI: assistant, associate, interim executive associate dean, and chair. She has had many campus roles in faculty governance, beginning with the Budgetary Affairs Committee and ending as President of the Indianapolis Faculty Council. In every role, she is focused on connecting people to the information and support they need for their success.
Job Description
Supporting faculty life from hiring to promotion and retirement.
- Process management: faculty hiring, reappointments, leaves and other issues.
- Policy management: providing interpretations and applications of IU and IUPUI policy to faculty issues; working with faculty governance to renew and improve policy.
- Promotion and tenure: educating candidates, mentors, and administrators in developing strong and successful faculty careers.
- Systems: overseeing IUPUI use of Academic Analytics, DMAI, and other faculty-support information technology.
